 Details

Food

Basically insects from vegetation or occasionally caught in flight. Also takes nectar of some flowers.

Reproduction

Two to three pale blue eggs in a delicate, cup-shaped nest of thin plant material.

Remarks

This is the only endemic bird to have adapted itself to man-made conditions. Gregarious and moves in bands of 6 to 20 throughout the year.
Male and female plumage identical.
White rump consipcuous, body grey.
Illustrated on a 2 cent stamp.

It is interesting to know that Zosterops borbonicus on Reunion is serving as pollinator for an orchid species, the Angraecum striatum
