Aphanapteryx leguati

Rodrigues Rail Aphanapteryx leguati was restricted to Rodrigues, Mauritius.

It is known from a number of bones, and from several travelers' reports, the last of which was that of Tafforet in 1726. It was flightless and apparently excellent eating, and was heavily hunted, presumably becoming extinct in the mid-18th century—Pingré reported that it was extinct in 1761.
