It has been a witness to the history of the Creole&#146;s soul. The music of the Cassiya Group--with its stars, Marcelino Chaton, Babalé, Bruno Mooken, Roger and Marie Josée Clency--explores the various sounds of an island (Mauritius) that is at the crossroads of various influences that force us to remember or suggest an identity. </p> <p>The Group was created in 1988. Its name comes from Cassi, a suburb of Port-Louis (the capital city of the island). It became popular in 1993 with its tape <i>&quot;zenfants perdi simé&quot;</i> that created a real tidal wave. </p> <p>Its led singer, Désirée François won the &quot;Star Show &#145;93&quot; contest organized by MBC, the local TV station, in 1993. Proclaimed as &quot;Group of the Year&quot; in 1994. Since then, Cassiya has gone from success to success with a &quot;Sega&quot; made richer with a variety of very inspired melodies <i>(&quot;Ici cote nou été,&quot;</i> in 1995, <i>&quot;Naryé la efasé&quot;</i> in 1997).</p> <p>Its singers&#146; fresh and insistent voices that sometimes become tonic have the power of spicing, with Creole sauce, a music made to soothe the heart and inspire to dance. </p> <p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="3"><b>Du s&eacute;ga &agrave; la sauce cr&eacute;ole</b></font></p> <p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">Musique de l'oc&eacute;an indien. T&eacute;moin de toutes les p&eacute;rip&eacute;ties de la mue de l'&acirc;me cr&eacute;ole. La musique du groupe Cassiya - avec ses vedettes : Marcelino Chaton, Babal&eacute;, Bruno Mooken, Roger et Marie-Jos&eacute;e Clency - explore les tendances sonores d'une &icirc;le (Maurice) au carrefour d'influences diverses poussant parfois aux appels &agrave; la m&eacute;moire, ou encore &agrave; la suggestion identitaire.</p> <p>Cr&eacute;&eacute; en 1998, le groupe Cassiya tire son nom de Cassi, un faubourg de Port-Louis (Capitale de l'&icirc;le). Il fut r&eacute;v&eacute;l&eacute; au grand public en 1993, gr&acirc;ce &agrave; la cassette "<i>zenfants perdi sem&eacute;</i>". Raz-de-mar&eacute;e ! </p> <p>Sa t&ecirc;te d'affiche, D&eacute;sir&eacute; Fran&ccedil;ois, fut, en 1993, laur&eacute;at du concours "Star Show 93" organis&eacute; par la t&eacute;l&eacute;vision locale (MBC). Il fut proclam&eacute; ensuite "groupe de l'ann&eacute;e" en 1994. Depuis, Cassiya vole de succ&egrave;s en succ&egrave;s autour d'un concept "s&eacute;ga" enrichi d'une vari&eacute;t&eacute; de motifs m&eacute;lodiques qui s'imposent par une inspiration sinc&egrave;re ("<i>Ici cote nou &eacute;t&eacute;</i>", 1995, "<i>Nary&eacute; la</i> <i>efas&eacute;</i>", 1997)</p> <p>Les vocalises fra&icirc;ches et lancinantes, parfois toniques, de ses chanteurs ont le pouvoir d'&eacute;picer &agrave; la sauce cr&eacute;ole une musique faite pour bercer le cSur.
